When Your Body Turns on You

When we are young, we do not need much sleep, and our attention level is still pretty good. Unfortunately, as we start to get older, we notice that things change with our health. Maybe our metabolism has changed, so it might be more difficult to lose weight. Maybe you feel more tired than usual, and your energy level is just not what it used to be. No matter how well we eat, exercise, take care of ourselves things just do not seem to improve. If that is the situation with you, then it is time to see a doctor. Your doctor can do blood work to make sure that your iron levels are where they should be. They can also check your cholesterol levels.

Maybe it is your thyroid. A lot of women have problems with their thyroid. Whether it is that it does not work well, or maybe it over works and you cannot gain weight. There are medications that you can take for this, but again this is something that you should talk to your do doctor about. It is important to discuss the side affects of whatever medications you might be taking with your doctor too, especially if you are taking more than one medication.

You should also talk to your doctor about taking vitamins, that is, if you are not already taking them. You should never overdo something, so make sure that you are following the dosage properly. Taking too much of something can cause you to not feel well either. Vitamin B12 can help with fatigue. Vitamin D can help manage your body weight, and help with your immune system. It could also reduce your risk of diseases and illnesses. Magnesium can help with sleep problems, constipation, or PMS. Vitamin K can help your heart. It also can help to build strong bones and can regulate blood clotting. Each vitamin has its own purpose, and again, your doctor can talk to you about all of this.

Exercise is just as important as what we eat. Everyone needs to do some sort of exercise everyday whether it is walking, dancing, or even riding your bicycle. As long as you are moving, it is exercise. Try to pick a time that works best for you. Maybe it’s before you eat dinner, or after you eat dinner, but make sure that you wait at least thirty minutes before you do anything. Maybe it is best if you to exercise right when you get home from work. Some people think that, because if they wait then their energy level continues to go down. Start out slowly if you are returning to exercising after a few months of not doing anything. Maybe start off walking for 15 minutes three days a week. Then move up from there, and walk for thirty minutes three days a week. If you do not have the time to do that then stay at fifteen minutes, and try to add an extra day to your exercise routine. You can also look online for exercise dance classes near you. Sometimes they will let you drop in on classes for a small fee. Do not worry if you cannot get the dance routine, because as long as you are moving you are exercising. You never know, you might like it and want to go back to another dance class. Maybe you like riding your bicycle. Just remember again to start out slowly; do not overdo it. When your body turns on you, it is important to do everything that you can do to get yourself back to as close to as where you were before. Our health is very important. As we get older, it is necessary to do more, eat better, exercise, try harder, and take your vitamins every single day.
