I know from personal experience that finding the mattress that gives you the perfect night’s sleep can be a foreboding task. Before I found the mattress that turned my four hours of sleep into a full eight, I was intimidated by the prospect of choosing from hundreds of different mattresses. Each one promised to give me the best shut-eye I’ve ever had and I wasn’t sure what factors were actually going to make a difference in my sleeping patterns. Luckily, I found The Lull Mattress, which completely transformed my sleep and helped me overcome my nightmarish sleepless nights. I hope that my journey to getting a full night of sleep inspires you to do the same.
I should probably start by saying that I struggled to get a good night’s sleep for longer than I care to admit. Not only was I tossing and turning for hours just trying to fall asleep, but once I finally met that blissful moment of slumber, I couldn’t stay asleep for more than an hour at most. Every tiny disturbance in my bed woke up me up; from the rustlings of my boyfriend to the frequent visits from Penelope, our affectionate cat, any shift or movement rattled my mattress and woke me up. And don’t even get me started on the springs; I think the horrible bouncing and obnoxious squeaking will haunt my nightmares for years.
Even worse, my four-hour night of on-again, off-again sleep left me with muscle aches that lasted for hours after waking up, leaving my back and neck in near constant pain. My weariness was making it hard to drag myself through a busy day at work, and no matter what I tried, I just could not get a peaceful night of rest. Popping a couple of Advil every morning and running on jittery bursts of energy from frequent coffee breaks was getting old fast and I knew it was time for a change.
When I started dozing off at work out of sheer exhaustion, I realized it was finally time to take control and revitalize my sleep. I decided it was time for a new mattress. While this was an exciting step forward, I was immediately overwhelmed with the multitude of options when it comes to mattresses. Did I want a soft and fluffy one, or a more rigid and firm one? Could memory foam help with my back pain, or would I still be waking up sore and tired in the morning? Where could I possibly find a mattress that could address the specific issues I was facing in order to ensure that I would finally get a full night of sleep?
When I started looking into mattresses as a means of reducing or (hopefully) eliminating my back pain and soreness all together, I quickly realized that memory foam was probably going to be my best option moving forward. Even when narrowing down my search to just memory foam mattresses, the staggering number of options to choose from made me nervous I might make the wrong choice. From pushy offers to questionable reviews, I began to wonder if it was even worth it to keep looking for something new.
When I checked out Lull’s website, I noticed that they offer reasonably priced mattress with free shipping and a 100 night trial, giving you plenty of time to figure out if the mattress is a good fit for you. With a guarantee of receiving the mattress within four business days and a free return policy, I thought it was at least worth a shot. I was willing to try anything to make sure I could get a good night’s sleep and it seemed like Lull’s mattresses offered some pretty unique features. For the first time in a long time, I slept a full eight and a half hours continuously, not waking up even once over the course of the night. I woke up feeling refreshed and energized, ready to take on the day. It had been a while since I had felt that way and it’s because Lull’s unique mattress is designed to give you an incredible night of rest. Here are some of the factors that revitalized my sleep:
I knew that mattress firmness was going to be an important factor in getting a full night of rest. When I considered the aches and pains I was suffering from, I found myself questioning what type of mattress is best for people suffering from soreness and back pain. Traditionally, doctors have always recommended a very firm mattress for anyone experiencing back pains but recent studies have shown that a hard mattress can actually make your sleep worse. On the flipside, soft mattresses have a tendency to be so cushiony that your body sinks into the mattress and allows your joints to twist while you sleep, resulting in soreness when you wake up. My research led me to deduce that both a soft mattress and a hard mattress wouldn’t solve my sleep deficit problem, leaving me with the daunting task of finding a mattress that hit that perfect sweet spot in between the two extremes.
Well, my Lull mattress does exactly that. It utilizes three-layer technology to support the body during sleep, promoting spine alignment while providing incomparable comfort. It avoids the pitfalls of being bouncy or enabling sinking and provides a happy medium for people like me who don’t want a mattress so firm it feels like sleeping on a rock and also don’t want to feel like they’re getting swallowed by the plushness of memory foam. With the provided support, my body already feels more aligned, and I am happy to say the days of waking up with dull back pain or a sore neck are no more. The luxurious foam promotes proper alignment and I no longer get agitated by sore joints or muscle aches.
When weighing the pros and cons of memory foam mattresses, I realized that a lot of memory foam mattresses trap body heat, trading off a comfortable sleeping temperature for the cloudlike feeling provided by memory foam. The composition of memory foam mattresses ends up being why you overheat when you sleep on them; the density of the foam restricts air circulation between your body and the mattress. This constrained ventilation leads to overheating. I’ll admit I’m picky when it comes to body temperature, especially when I’m trying to fall asleep, so the potential for dealing with sweaty, sleepless nights due to overheating was undesirable.
My first night on my new mattress calmed all my fears regarding this particular issue. In fact, the coolness of the mattress was one of the first things I noticed when I headed to bed. It turns out that the cooling gel top layer of the mattress keeps you cool during the night, drawing away body heat to ensure you don’t wake up overheated. This layer is made of gel-infused viscoelastic memory foam, which provides increased air flow to keep you cool all night long.
I have to say, one of my favorite features has to be the way the mattress distributes motion, rendering even not-so-subtle shifts in the middle of the night undetectable. As I mentioned earlier, I didn’t wake up once during the full eight and a half hours the first night I slept on my new mattress. My boyfriend said that he got up to go to the bathroom twice in the middle of the night and I was just as shocked as he was that I didn’t even notice! Designed to isolate movement without sacrificing the comfort provided by memory foam, the mattress makes sure you aren’t disturbed by anything that might be moving around you. Perfect for partners or pets that tend to shift around at night, the Lull mattress kept a self-proclaimed light sleeper sound asleep throughout the night.
While it seemed like it might have been impossible to find a mattress that would save me from those countless sleepless nights, my Lull mattress ended up being the key to turning my four nightmarish hours of sleep into the eight best hours of rest I’ve ever had. With a 10-year warranty, I can sleep easy at night knowing I’ll stay well-rested for a long time to come.
